Things to do in San Francisco

The Many Sights In San Francisco, California

San Francisco California is probably one of the most visited cities in America, many that have come back again and again. This is one of the busiest port cities in the country, with two international airports in the area, a major naval base close by, as well as numerous well-known colleges. San Francisco, while the weather can be somewhat unpredictable, it is much milder overall no matter what the season.

There are so many things to see and do in San Francisco that it is hard to see it thoroughly in a short period of time, which is why many tourists come back as often as they can. First of all, you have world-class accommodations, from five star hotels, hostels, and evenapartments in San Francisco , so you can find a nice place to stay no matter what your budget. For holiday apartments, it is a good idea to plan your trip more in advance so you can get the best deals on San Francisco accommodation.

The attractions here are accommodating to just about every age group, from small children to older adults, and you can indulge in just about any taste you may have. There is a small 'adult' section of the town if you are into that kind of entertainment, but there is an abundance of opportunities for families as well. It all depends on what you like.

There are some 'must see' things to do in San Francisco  no matter how short a stay in San Francisco you have. One of these is a ride on the world famous historical trolley system they have. Yes, this is the one you see on those television commercials. This system is one of the world's only moving historical monuments. They can be accessed either from Market Street or in the North Beach area, close to Fisherman's Wharf. These trolleys climb some of the steepest streets in the City; it is simply amazing how functional and well preserved they are.

While in San Francisco, many people take guided tours of the city. Places of the greatest interest are Alcatraz Island, The Golden Gate Bridge, Sausalito and Marin County. You can find an abundance of boat tours available along Fisherman's Wharf, as well as the San Francisco Maritime Museum, as well as the World Famous wax museum. Pier 39, a high tourist area, is where there are many street performers, as well as places to get a close look at the sea lions that frequent the harbor. This is where you will also find many of the finest and freshest seafood restaurants, as well as markets when buying for your holiday apartment kitchen.

The next site that is seen the most often is the Golden Gate Bridge. This iconic landmark with its welcoming paint and sleek lines is one of the most photographed bridges in the world. You can walk from San Francisco across the 1.7-mile span to the visitor's center on the North side of the bridge. Here you can see the history of the bridge, why the suspension design was chosen, and why it is painted the way it is. There are several points where you can take your own pictures and video as well.

Golden Gate Park is another historical landmark that you have to experience even a little while visiting this wonderful City. Many of the available rental apartments are located across from the park or within walking distance. The Golden Gate Park is the Home of many museums, outdoor amphitheaters, gardens and even a large public greenhouse. You will find an assortment of minor sports activities, and there is a paddleboat pond as well as a model sailing pool. This Park ends up at the other important thing you need to see, the Pacific Ocean Beach. There is a long road leading up to the top of the bluff, but the old Bath House, Museum and visitor center is worth the trip, as well as being able to see for miles out on a clear day. Many surfers and sea lions can also be watched.
